The biophysics Institute is partner of the EU funded project BIO-PLASTICS EUROPE

The biophysics Institute is partner of the EU funded project BIO-PLASTICS EUROPE “Developing and implementing sustainability-based solutions for Bio-Based Plastic production and use to preserve land and sea environmental quality in Europe” within the Horizon2020 framework programme. It aims at developing sustainable strategies and solutions for biology-based products to sustain European Strategy on Plastic Materials.

The European partners involved are interested in designing innovative products and in developing business models which may facilitate efficiency, reuse and recycle, including security guarantee of recycled materials when employed in the making of toys or food packaging.

Relevant stakeholders of the sector are involved in the project, such as Tetrapak, Unilever, Adidas to name a few.
