The main aim of the RiboTIP project is the purification of intact polyribosomes (the translational machineries responsible for protein synthesis) using a de-novo designed technology embedded in dedicated 96-well microplates. The collaboration between a local research institution and local companies is meant to produce a prototype ready to use and suitable for a small-scale industrial production. This result (i) will allow a better understanding of this complex cellular apparatus (i.e. polyribosomes) and (ii) will speed up an ongoing process of product innovation. Overall, the RiboTIP project is conceived in a frame of an open business model that takes advantage of research as main source of competitiveness, business survival and economic growth for the companies involved in the project and for the entire Trentino region.
